How to test the questions in 30 minutes
A simple manual test you can repeat every month to see whether anything changes. The detailed steps are in our article How to check whether ChatGPT recommends your business.
Prepare the table
Download the CSV table and open it in Google Sheets or Excel. It has a column for each AI assistant.
Use a clean session
Open a private window and, where possible, don't sign in to your account, so your history doesn't influence the answer.
Run each question
In ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. In Google, search for the question and check whether an AI-generated summary (AI Overviews) appears.
Note who gets cited
Mark "yes" or "no" next to your business and note which businesses or websites appear instead.
AI answers vary from one run to the next. A single test shows only the situation at that moment. What matters is the trend over a few months, on the same questions. That is also how we work in our monthly monitoring, following our public methodology.

We chose these intents because they cover a customer's usual path: they ask for a recommendation, compare, check the price, need something urgently, or want to understand the options before deciding. The questions with your business name show what the model "knows" about your business, not just whether it recommends it.
For a more precise test, also add the real questions customers ask you by phone or on WhatsApp. They are the most valuable, because they are worded exactly the way people talk.
FAQs
Why 10 questions and not more?
Ten questions across five intents take about 30 minutes to test by hand and give you an overall picture. For a full audit, we use 30–50 questions run through several models, as in our GEO audit.
Can I use the questions for traditional SEO too?
Yes. The same questions are good ideas for answer pages and for the FAQ sections on your website. If an important question has no answer on your website, that is where to start writing.
What do I do if I don't appear in any answer?
Start with the foundation: Google Business Profile, the same contact details everywhere, and structured data on your website. See where you stand with the GEO score or request the free GEO audit, in which we run the questions for you and tell you who appears instead of you.
Is what I type into the generator saved?
No. The questions are generated in your browser and we send nothing to a server. The CSV table is also created locally, on your device.
