How a dental clinic gets recommended by ChatGPT and Google AI: a 7-step guide
For a dental clinic to be recommended by ChatGPT and Google AI, it needs three things: a clear, dedicated page for each treatment, identical information about the clinic across every online source, and genuine reviews that keep coming in. Structured data, articles and other optimizations are built on that foundation.
How patients search today
Patients no longer just type “dentist Iași”. They ask full questions, usually in Romanian: “Where can I get a dental implant in Iași and how much does it cost?”, “Which clinic does root canal treatment under a microscope?”, “Does a scale and polish hurt?”. They ask them on Google, but more and more often in ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity too.
The answer usually mentions two or three clinics and cites a few pages. If the clinic’s website does not answer these questions clearly, the assistant will recommend the clinics that do.
A 7-step guide
1. A dedicated page for each key treatment
Implants, crowns, veneers, root canal treatment, orthodontics, whitening, pediatric dentistry. Each treatment deserves its own page, with a clear URL. An AI assistant finds it much easier to cite a page that answers a single question than a general list of services.
On each page, cover: what the treatment involves, who it is for, how it is carried out, how many visits it usually takes, what happens afterward and who on the team handles it.
2. The main answer in the first paragraph
The first 40-60 words of the page should give a complete answer: for example, what an implant involves, how many stages the procedure has and how long the whole process usually takes. The details come afterward. This format is the easiest to use in an AI-generated answer.
3. Prices or price ranges
Questions about cost are among the most common. An indicative range, along with the factors that affect it (type of material, number of visits, tests required), is far more useful than “the price is set at the consultation”. Without this information, the assistant will cite a clinic that does publish it.
4. Transparent profiles of your dentists
A page for each dentist, with their specialty, training and the treatments they perform. In healthcare, the author’s credibility matters a great deal, both to Google and to patients. Link each treatment page to the profiles of the dentists who perform it.
5. Consistent information about the clinic
The same name, address, phone number and opening hours on your website, in your Google Business Profile, on Facebook and in medical directories. Even small differences, such as outdated opening hours or a changed phone number, make AI assistants more cautious about recommending the clinic. See also our Google Business Profile checklist.
6. Correct structured data
Use the Dentist or MedicalClinic type instead of the generic Organization type, and fill in the address, opening hours, phone number and services. Also mark up the FAQs on your treatment pages correctly. The steps are described in detail in our structured data guide for clinics.
7. Genuine reviews, requested consistently
Ask for a review after every completed treatment, with a direct link to your Google profile. Reply to every review, including critical ones, calmly and without sharing any medical details about the patient. A steady flow of recent reviews carries more weight than a large number of old ones.
Staying within the profession’s rules
Advertising medical services in Romania is regulated by law and by the profession’s codes of ethics. Before publishing new pages, check the rules of the Romanian College of Dental Physicians (Colegiul Medicilor Dentiști din România) on informing the public and on advertising. A few practical principles:
- inform, without promising results;
- do not publish patients’ photos or details without their written consent;
- avoid direct comparisons with other clinics and superlatives such as “the best” or “guaranteed”;
- in public replies to reviews, do not confirm or discuss a patient’s medical details.
The good news is that clear, accurate, informative content is exactly what AI assistants prefer as well.
How to measure results
Put together a list of 15-20 real patient questions, grouped by treatment and by the areas your patients come from. Check them monthly in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google, and note how many answers mention the clinic (AI presence rate) and how often your website is cited (citation rate). The method is described on our methodology page.
At the same time, track in Google Analytics how many appointments come through your website and from which sources. You will find the technical details in our article on measuring inquiries with GA4 and Google Tag Manager.
Where to start
If you only have time for one step this week, choose the treatment that brings in the most patients and rewrite its page following steps 2 and 3: the main answer up front and the price range. Then move on to the next one.
We support medical and dental clinics through the whole process. You will find details on our page for medical and dental clinics, and as a first step you can request a Free GEO audit.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take for a clinic to appear in AI answers?
It depends on where you are starting from. Fixes and new pages can be picked up within a few weeks, but a stable presence takes a few months to build, with monthly measurement.
Do we need a blog to be recommended?
It is not essential. Well-built treatment pages matter more than articles. Later on, a blog helps you appear for informational questions too, such as “Does an implant hurt?” or “How long does a crown last?”.
Can we show our Google reviews on the website with stars in search results?
You can display them on your website for visitors, but Google does not show stars for reviews a business marks up itself about its own services. Focus on the reviews in your Google Business Profile.
Does our presence on Facebook or Instagram matter too?
It matters as a consistency signal, as long as your details and services are the same everywhere. For AI recommendations, however, your website and Google profile remain the main sources.
